As a professor of English at San Diego City College, Chris teaches Creative Writing and is the director of the award winning San Diego City College English Center.  Chris also works on Education Reform, developing an Early College High School program that brings high school student to college, beginning in 9th grade to work on college readiness skills.

Through the years at City College, Chris has won several awards including,
  • the Golden Apple, teacher of the Year award at SDCC,
  • the CAPED Teacher of the Year Award for the state of California,

The voices of four San Diego poets meet at a crossroads of poetic traditions to contemplate home––home as a sense of place and a sense of self, home as much outside as it is inside.
